About Me

Are you sure you are in the right place?  I am not sure that I am!  I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt, and a friend.  My favorite job, though,  is being a Mom to my 2 sweet angels.  Elizabeth is 4 years old and Charlie is 1 1/2 years old.  Elizabeth has Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects almost everything she does.  She is non verbal, but her eyes and body language speaks louder than words.  She is mobile and does not stop moving!   Charlie is our little cannonball.  He is full of light and energy. He giggles and plays and loves all over us, especially his big sister.  They are definitely meant to be together in this life.

I am going to try to transform the internet into my therapeutic playground and raise awareness for this debiliating disorder called Rett Syndrome.  I named my blog, Rettology because this blog is a collection of how Rett Syndrome has affected our lives.  I can not always say I will be positive, but I try damn hard.

I hope you learn something new and can spread awareness of Rett Syndrome.

      Carrie,
My name is Katy Heisterman, my son John was in Ms Martha’s class with Elizabeth at the beginning of last year. Elise Janicek is a dear friend. I wish we had connected when y’all were in Austin. My cousin and his wife have a daughter with Rett. Their daughters name is Maddi, and they are in the Houston area. If it’s alright with you, I would love to connect y’all.
      Grace and peace,
      Katy Heisterman
